You just need a third party or another set of eyes to assist with decision making

You need someone to come into your business for a short time to work with you and your team to address some ongoing internal concerns or interests.

6.     Why would I bother working with a business advisor or consultant when I can do it myself?

Often, a business advisor can see and address things that you may not have had the chance to get at.  It is like marketing.  You know that you need it.  Your business can grow from it.  Many people are hesitant to invest the money up front without seeing the immediate return.  Those, however, who have taken the plunge, have succeeded in ways that are far beyond where they could have gotten alone.

7.     How do I know what I need a business advisor to address?

Through a process of brainstorming, mission and vision seeking, we can see where your organization is versus where you would like for it to be.

8.     How does Aepiphanni charge for its services?

There are several ways in which we can work out your investment

  i.      By the project:  This is common for projects such as business plans and websites.  However, the project must stay within a specific scope.  Otherwise, adjustments may have to be made.

ii.      Hourly – this is typical for advisory or coaching projects.  Most often, there will be a retainer.  Hourly rates are broken down in ten minute increments by

1.      Professional service fees (the work that we have specifically been trained to do)

and

2.      Administrative fees (work such as typing, mailing, etc)

iii.      Retainer – This allows you to predetermine the amount of weekly, bi-weekly or monthly investment you would like to make in your project.  This is most appropriate for larger/longer projects.  The actual amount of work is tracked and submitted to ensure that you are receiving what you expected.

9.     How can someone who does not know my business come in and tell me how to run the business?

In many cases, no one knows as much about your business as you do.  The “Bright Ideas for Small Businesses” aren’t always our ideas, but ideas that you have had that you need us to execute.  In other cases, clients have simply needed what they knew about their business organized so they could plan next steps.  In other cases, small business owners needed infrastructure in their business.  They could provide an excellent product, but could not make money doing it.

11. What other consulting industry standards are there in place that might guide me on how to choose a consultant?

If you go to the articles section in Aepiphanni.com, there is a document there from the Institute of Management Consultants called “How to Hire a Management Consultant”, along with the IMC Code of Ethics.  These should be excellent resources.  If you chose not to go with Aepiphanni Business Solutions, I would take the time to make sure that the consultant you do engage does meet all of the criteria listed.
