How We Do It

While no two engagements are the same, certain elements are the same.

Our small business consulting process is based on several logical elements of processes that enable us to get a full understanding of your business, make justifiable recommendations and help you get through the process of implementing our recommendations.  The steps in our process is as follows:

Discovery The discovery process is a process where we do an assessment on the organization - how it operates, who the leadership is and talk about the goals and the needs of the organization.  Many times, during this phase, we are able to uncover core competencies and weaknesses in the organization.  This phase is based around the business assessment and qualitative (through interviewing) information gathering.
Analysis The analysis phase contains more quantitative research information.  During this phase, we look at how the business exists in the marketplace, using information such as market data, economic and technological indicators and industry data.
Visioning The visioning process is where we work with you to discover a very clear, compelling vision for the organization.  Often, we will look at several possible "futures' to work toward in order to be in a position to make some good decisions about how to get to any of those points.  This is a brainstorming process, where the more people involved, the better.
Modeling The modeling process allows us to take the information gathered from the discovery, analysis and visioning processes, and begin to see what the organization might look like under present conditions, some great future, some baseline future - where if nothing, much changed in the environment, and in some poor future, where outside influences caused challenges for the organization.  These models are both qualitative and quantitative - they will have an explanation and supporting documents showing how the solutions were arrived at.
Planning Through the modeling process and working with you, we can begin to decide what steps to take and when.  This is the strategic planning process.  While this is only the planning stage, it is often the stage that is most exciting, where many business owners feel that their organizations have been "reborn," so to speak.
Implementing During the implementation phase, we are normally involved in process mapping and process improvement.  At the same time, subject matter experts, or SME's focus on specific areas of your organization.  This ensures that your organization isn't simply left with a large business plan or strategic plan, but actually have the systems, processes and strategies in place in the organization, and baseline measurements taken.
Coaching Based on the goals we've set for the organization, we'll be your accountability agent - to ensure that you are continuing to pursue the goals you've laid out for yourself.  We'll continue to guide you, and make recommendations, based on your progress.  Lastly, we'll make sure that the systems and processes we've put in place don't quickly unravel.  This is often the largest waste of money we see - post engagement.
